Personal finance website WalletHub has released "2021's Most & Least Stressed States," a report that compared the 50 states across metrics ranging from average hours worked to the personal bankruptcy rate to the share of adults getting adequate sleep.
Most Stressed States:
- New Mexico
- West Virginia
Least Stressed States:
- New Hampshire
- North Dakota
- South Dakota
Key findings include:
- Nebraska has the lowest unemployment rate, 4.2%, which is three times lower than in Nevada, the highest at 12.8% percent.
- New Hampshire has the lowest share of the population living in poverty, while Mississippi has the highest at 20.3%.
- Vermont has the lowest share of adults in fair to poor health, while West Virginia has the highest at 24.2%.
- Rhode Island has the most psychologists per 100,000 residents at 77, which is 8.6 times more than in Mississippi which as only 9.
