One of the latest soothing suggestions, complete with enticing imagery and nutritional advice, is Moon Milk. According to Pinterest, searches for the pretty pastel potion, believed to promote a good night’s sleep, have skyrocketed in the past year.

Of course, sipping warm milk has long been touted as a cure for insomnia, but these versions take that concept to the next level. In addition to being dairy-free, many of the concoctions call for a variety of slumber inducing herbs—especially ashwagandha, an ingredient that’s been used for thousands of years in Ayurvedic medicine thanks to its ability to relieve stress, fight inflammation and lower blood sugar levels, among other health benefits.

Inspired by one of the recipes making the online rounds, holistic health coach and blogger Alicia Uhl of theplantie.com created this version, which she says helps calm and relax the body before bed. “It’s also my favorite tonic to drink during my menstrual phase due to the pain-relieving properties of the tart cherry juice and the dried roses,” she adds.
