The Gift of Acceptance

When one door closes, another opens. That’s what recently happened for two Michigan day spas, anyway.

First came the unexpected closing of Spa Julianna in Plymouth late last year, which left many of its customers unsure about what would happen to the gift cards they had received but hadn’t yet redeemed. That’s when Nina Howard, owner of Bellanina Day Spa in nearby Ann Arbor, decided to step up and offer a solution.

Effective immediately, Howard will give clients of Spa Julianna the opportunity to cash in their gift cards for spa services at Bellanina. Guests can now trade in their gift certificates for a comparable one hour treatment for $10 per hour of service.

“We understand the distress customers have experienced and hope by offering this gesture we can help the customers of Spa Julianna find a new spa to call their own at Bellanina,” Howard says. In addition, customers have the chance to spread the love by donating $10 to one of the charities Bellanina supports, including Humane Society of Huron Valley in Ann Arbor and Food Gatherers.

Howard says this is an ideal time of year to reach out and give back to the community. — Soraya Gutierrez
