On Thursday, May 28, nearly 100 spa and media professionals from across the country gathered for the second annual ISPA West Coast Media Event. The soirée, held at the upscale Montage Beverly Hills, offered journalists and writers a chance to meet representatives from a host of spa, wellness and skincare companies, including Aspira Spa, Island Spa Catalina, Kohler Waters Spa, Massage Envy, Stemulation and the hotel’s own Spa Montage.

Guests were also treated to mini treatments and consultations. DAYSPA escaped the mêlée and ducked into a blow-up “bubble” to enjoy a mini Natura Bissé hand treatment courtesy of the Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village; we had our postures checked by staff from the Mayo Clinic Healthy Living Program (diagnosis: Kyphosis-Lordosis, or slight forward tilting); we were given a glamorous makeover by Colorscience; and we mixed up our own divine-smelling Pixie Tangerine Salt Scrubs with The Oaks at Ojai (founder Sheila Cluff was on hand to dish out samples of delectable dark chocolate bark!)

In addition, we caught up with Laura McIver from Miraval Resort & Spa, who discussed some of the wellness destination’s 175-plus services; afterward, the resort’s resident spiritual guide and healer Pam Lancaster performed Tibetan Chakra Balancing on DAYSPA’s associate editor Rachel Kossman.

We also managed to sneak in few minutes with ResortSuite co-founder Frank Pitsikalis, one of two Canadian ambassadors for the upcoming Global Wellness Day on Saturday, June 13. Pitsikalis discussed the importance of wellness in today’s world, and how we all need to take wellness—from eating well to exercising to reducing stress—into our own hands.

At the end of the evening, attendees left with stylish FEED totes filled with product samples and information—in other words, bags of inspiration!
