Spa Pros Discuss Their Top Neck & Décolleté Services
Irene Bwewusa, esthetician at Relâche Spa at the Gaylord National Resort in National Harbor, Maryland: The skin in these areas is frequently the most neglected, but it’s also thinner, has fewer sebaceous glands, is more prone to water loss, and is the first to show signs of aging.
Mandy Rohde, owner of Amenity Day Spa in Ashburn, Virginia: The neck and chest are exposed to and affected by the same environmental factors and show the same damage as the face, while having fewer oil glands and melanocytes. If we only treat the face, it becomes much brighter and suppler, which exaggerates the appearance of aging and sun damage in other areas—especially those immediately adjacent.
Tamara Remmers, lead esthetician at Joya Spa at Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia in Paradise Valley, Arizona: The skin of the neck and décolleté is very delicate. Many people also neglect to apply daily sunscreen to these areas, which is why we see so much sun damage there.
What are your top neck and décolleté services?
Debbie Matherly, spa manager at Indulgence Salon & Spa in Roanoke, Virginia: Our Moon Dip Décolleté Treatment (15 min./$15) is an add-on using a range of FarmHouse Fresh products. We first cleanse the area and follow that with the brand’s Sundae Best Mask, which we remove with hot, steamy towels. Next, we apply an illuminating serum and, finally, moisturize with Moon Dip Back to Youth Ageless Body Mousse. Our clients love the deep hydration of this treatment—the entire area looks soft, supple, radiant and renewed.
Rohde: We offer a combination of a glycolic peel that includes the neck and décolleté with a G.M. Collin Hydro-Lifting Facial (90 min./$210). For normal skin, I suggest getting this dual treatment monthly, but for clients showing signs of severe aging or damage, I recommend a series of Glycolic Peels (30 min./$50) once a week for six weeks, often followed by a series of three IPL Décolleté Treatments (30 min./$250 each) and a series of six Skin Tightening Neck Venus Viva RF Microneedling treatments (30 min./$150 each).
Bwewusa: The 24k Gold Knesko Neck and Décolleté Mask (15 min./$75) is one of our most popular add-on treatments. It comes with 1.5 ounces of serum infused with antiaging peptides that are massaged into the skin before the mask is applied. It’s so quick and effective— clients love how relaxing and calming it feels, as well as the hydration and youthful glow that’s achieved after it’s removed.
Neck & Décolleté Products
Bwewusa: It’s essential that they look at the neck and décolleté as an extension of their face. Cleansers, serums, moisturizers and sunscreen should all be used in these areas to keep the skin well hydrated and protected, and to promote a more youthful appearance.
Rohde: For at-home care, our bestselling products are the antiaging G.M. Collin 3D Visible Lifting Serum and Crème, which we suggest guests use morning and evening, followed by sun protection during the day. I also recommend a brightening serum to treat any dark spots or hyperpigmentation.
Remmers: We advise clients to always apply sunblock, as well as use a firming and hydrating neck cream, along with a vitamin C serum to correct and prevent free radical damage and promote collagen production.
