Located on a secluded cove with the bright blue Andaman Sea as its backdrop, Trisara is one of the island’s most luxurious and private resorts inspired by Thailand’s rich heritage. Trisara offers a unique experience that celebrates spiritual and physical wellbeing encouraged by moments of reflection and connection. Last December, the resort relaunched its signature JARA spa, which takes inspiration from the ‘five pillars’—elements of the ficus tree that collectively nourish, invigorate and heal.
One of the highlights from the menu is the Royal Trisara 6 Hand Massage, a benchmark therapy that features three therapists and utilizes nourishing oils and herbal compresses to create a harmonic, healing therapy experience. In addition to single treatments, JARA offers numerous packages that are several hours long, incorporate multiple treatments such as foot soaks, facials, massages and aromatherapy baths, and can be enjoyed in one day or spread out over the course of one’s stay.
The spa also offers a range of other wellness-based activities ranging from pilates to Muay Thai boxing lessons, and their retail range is 100-percent chemical free and made using only the finest local ingredients. DAYSPA had the special opportunity to chat with spa manager Sophon O-In, who shared more details about JARA’s exciting relaunch.
Tell us about the relaunch of JARA Spa.
The new JARA Spa at Trisara Resort opened in December 2016 after an extensive renovation. Committed to constantly reimagining how guests encounter its rich local heritage, the newly renovated and renamed JARA Spa takes guests on a journey of balanced well-being. Its holistic five-pillar philosophy is inspired by the century-old ficus tree that envelops the spa, and the belief that by nourishing the roots, engaging with the earth, providing strength to the core and taking care of the inner self, outward beauty will ultimately blossom.
What does “JARA” mean?
“Journey” in Sanskrit.
What’s the inspiration for the spa design and theme?
The re-design was centered around the ancient ficus tree that surrounds the spa, and the treatment menu was developed around the five pillars.

We offer several massages, including the popular Thai Thermal Massage. We also offer various scrubs, a traditional Thai herbal wrap, and facial services ranging from anti-aging to rejuvenation. A popular treatment is the aloe vera sunburn soother for sunburnt skin, where we apply freshly blended aloe vera with cool cucumber and essential oils. We also offer nail services, hair services, waxing, energy healing, meditation, yoga, Tai Chi, pilates, Muay Thai boxing and more.
