Spa Showcase: Spa at Adare Manor, Adare, Ireland
Adare Manor reopened last November following an expansive 21-month restoration that returned the property to its Neo-Gothic glory. Among the highlights are a new 42-bedroom wing, a championship golf course redesigned by Tom Fazio and—located in the heart of the Manor overlooking the River Maigue—a La Mer Spa, the first in the British Isles and one of only 11 in the world.
As well as face and body treatments featuring La Mer’s product line—including the famed Miracle Broth Facial (90 min./ $307)—the menu reveals some intriguing Irish touches. “We thought it was important to highlight our identity and heritage to provide a unique experience,” explains spa supervisor Caoimhe Finnegan. “So, we have selected four symbols from Ogham, a sacred druid alphabet, that correspond to a specific tree found on the manor’s grounds. Each is believed to be connected to a well-being aspect and oer spiritual, medicinal and magical powers.” Hence such options as an Aromatherapy Massage (50 min./$147; 80 min./$222), linked to the willow tree, which is associated with harmony.
Finnegan shares that the staff is continually developing the menu. “We’re currently working on making our own products for the Coladh Samh (‘Sleep Sound’) treatment (50 min./$172; 80 min./$258)—a hand cream made with carrageen moss and beeswax, and a body oil incorporating oakmoss,” she says. Also in the pipeline: the launch of the La Mer Genaissance facial and retreats that package services such as forest therapy (a two-hour mindfulness walk) with an Intuitive Healing Treatment.
