Bill Brown Receives the Performance Health / Massage Therapy Foundation Humanitarian Award

Bill Brown, Executive Director of the American Massage Therapy Association was presented the 2018 Performance Health / Massage Therapy Foundation Humanitarian Award at the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) National Convention held in Washington, DC earlier this month.

Performance Health, manufacturer and marketer of Biofreeze Professional, Bon Vital’, Thera°Pearl, Prossage, TheraBand and Cramer health and wellness products, and the Massage Therapy Foundation (MTF) have presented this award in partnership for ten years.

“The mission of Performance Health is to help people feel good, perform better and live great, and Bill is committed to doing just that,” said Craig Hall, Director of Sales, Massage & Spa, Performance Health. “Bill has dedicated his life to helping others through the healing power of massage. He’s a true champion for our profession and has been a tremendous supporter of the MTF both personally and professionally. Thank you, Bill!”

Mr. Brown has a degree in Political Studies from the University of Illinois and vast experience in association management as well as industry and government relations. Prior to joining AMTA in 2005, he worked in industry relations for the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, as the Director of Government and Regulatory Affairs for the International Interior Design Association, and as the Director of State Government Affairs in the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. Bill was named the Executive Director of AMTA in 2013. Under his leadership, he has championed the concept of the nonprofit advantage in professional associations. Since then, the group has experienced 50% membership growth over the past five year.

“With more than 20 years of leadership experience in association management and the legislative process, Bill brings a strategic approach to coalition-building by fostering positive volunteer relations and has developed a support staff that sets the industry standard for member services and engagement. Thank you, Bill!” concluded Hall.”

On behalf of the AMTA Board of Directors,  organization President Joan Nichols said, “We are delighted that the Foundation has recognized Bill for his wonderful contributions to the massage therapy profession. AMTA is very lucky to have him as our Executive Director.”

“Bill’s leadership in the massage therapy industry and his long history of service combined with his extensive background have made an enormous positive impact on the profession. MTF values the relationship with Performance Health and is appreciative of their donation as well as recognizing those in the MT profession who deserve it,” added Doug Nelson, Massage Therapy Foundation President, LMT, BCTMB, CNMT.

Performance Health is making a $2,500 donation to the Massage Therapy Foundation in Mr. Brown’s name.
