Aman Launches Forest Bathing Retreat in Japan

Luxury hotel group Aman has created a nature-centric wellness retreat for Amanemu, a remote Japanese resort in Mie, located in a sprawling national park. The new retreat is a four-night program developed to help guests support their immunity by connecting with nature and experiencing the benefits of nature immersion, such as stress relief, improved sleep and a healing effect on the mind.

Guests will participate in daily forest-bathing and hiking excursions where they're guided through mountains and forests populated with sacred outdoor shrines. They will be also offered a choice of healing spa services, including an aquatic bodywork treatment, shiatsu massage, acupuncture or a blend of shiatsu and moxa.

The retreat also includes: 

  • A wellness cuisine meal featuring macrobiotic ingredients 
  • Shinrin-yoku (forest bathing) experiences in the historical Kumano Kodo pilgrim route
  • A Buddhist Zazen meditation and ritual led by a local monk, with traditional Japanese tea ceremony
  • Unlimited use of the thermal springs and hydro facilities
  • Usage of private onsen 
  • Usage of resort bicycles
