The Lowdown:

The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced a new hotel project in the heart of Beijing. The property, which is being developed by Beijing Tianjie Group Company Limited, is expected to open in 2018 and will provide a chance to experience traditional and authentic Beijing surroundings. The latest addition will be located within the Qianmen East Hutong Quarter, itself in the middle of a preservation and regeneration process. The architectural style of the Beijing courtyard is unique to the hutongs (traditional courtyard houses connected by narrow, maze-like lanes and alleyways) of the capital city. The hotel will be spread throughout the quarter alongside privately owned residences, retail outlets, eateries and cultural venues.

Standout Features:

The Mandarin Oriental Qianmen, Beijing will feature spacious landscaped courtyard suites where guests can experience traditional Beijing living within one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods. The hotel houses various dining venues, from an all-day concept with roof terrace to a traditional tea lounge and signature Mandarin cake shop. A Spa at Mandarin Oriental will offer holistic rejuvenation and relaxation as well as leisure facilities such as an indoor swimming pool and fitness center. “Mandarin Oriental Qianmen, Beijing will give guests a truly authentic experience, combined with the attention to detail and service for which Mandarin Oriental is known,” says Mandarin Oriental’s group chief executive James Riley.
