Name: The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago
Location:
Chicago

The Lowdown:

Following a multimillion-dollar revitalization, The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago now houses 434 guest rooms, including 90 refashioned suites. The renovations were designed with the goal of embracing the hotel’s location and recapturing the architectural heritage of the city, with panoramic skyline views as a main focal point. “Throughout the entire property, we have connected design elements of the buildings historic exterior and brought the inspiration and energy of Chicago inside,” says Billy Quimby, principal of San Francisco-based design firm BAMO, which spearheaded the renovations.

Standout Features:

The full transformation extends from the ground level to the 12th-floor lobby, reception areas, restaurant, bar, spa and event spaces. The hotel has introduced a modern Italian steakhouse, Torali, Italian-Steak, with an adjoining copper-clad Torali Bar that features original house-made infusions. The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago Spa is inspired by the shores of Lake Michigan and spotlights hydration-centric treatments—like the Antioxidant Power Peel Facial (50 min./$165) and Indulgent Drench Body Experience (80 min./$220)—performed with ESPA and Cosmedix products. Spa renovations include revamped treatment rooms and a new nail salon.
