Help Your Clients De-Stress During the Hectic Holiday Season

carecredit[Image: Courtesy of CareCredit]It’s that time of year again. Beginning with Thanksgiving and ending right after New Year’s Day, stress levels are off the charts from all the planning, shopping, cooking, decorating and parties galore.

This is the perfect opportunity to help spa-goers chillax and de-stress to make the most of the holiday season and end the year on a high note.

Pamper Perfect

Offer your clients a well-earned break from all of the crowds and gift wrapping, and indulge in a little “me time” instead of focusing on buying more presents and going to more parties. Plan a short menu of relaxing seasonal treatments that can add some joy to their busy overscheduled lives.

Start your season off in November and plan through New Year’s Eve with a festive offering, from little perks to big promotions, so clients can treat themselves. Careful planning can yield positive results at the register.

Reduce your own stress by laying out a calendar of specials, events and giftable items so you don’t get caught scrambling to get your spa ready for prime time. From November to January, take note of all the holidays to recognize. These include Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s, and you may also want to add Hanukah and other festivals that are relevant to your customer base.

If you enjoy sending printed holiday cards to customers, get them out early and invite guests to come into the spa and celebrate the season with you. Determine your email marketing campaigns to feature a few key special offers, gifts and gift certificates that may pique their interest. Schedule some open house events around the holidays to bring more customers into the spa. Be sure to add “Bring a friend” to your invitations to attract more potential clients. Don’t forget to remind guests if you accept the CareCredit credit card, so they can use it to take advantage of your promotions and special offers.

Get the whole spa team involved with planning your seasonal treatment menu. Propose some updates from previous years to maximize your efforts, and keep it fresh and exciting. Set priorities and assign roles for everyone—a team effort is mandatory for success.

Seasonal Spa Therapies

Consider what worked well for previous holiday seasons. If the stocking stuffers flew out the door, step it up this year. Create new traditions for your spa and revisit the best ones from prior years. If the Peppermint Pedis or Cool Yule Facial Treatments were big sellers, revisit them again and add a new twist.

Try out some trendy new spa rituals and treatments using holiday-inspired ingredients including chocolate, vanilla, ginger, pomegranate, pumpkin, cranberry and cinnamon.

According to Bonnie Marting, ARNP, of Anushka Spa, Salon & Cosmedical Centre in West Palm Beach, Florida, “Our signature Honey and Almond Smooth Body Scrub is designed for all skin types, even sensitive skin. We use a decadent blend of honey and almond that gently exfoliates the skin, leaving your whole body silky smooth to show off. The indulgence continues with a half-hour massage and rich hydrating body cream. It’s one of our perennial favorite treatments.”

Plastic surgeon Jennifer Walden, MD, owner of Skintology Spa in New York City, says: “Our clients love the Fruit Soufflé Facial which includes pore cleansing, extraction, massage and assorted fruits mask, plus a hydrating vitamin pack. For the holiday season, our therapists use fruits like pomegranate and cranberry essence to keep it festive.” Your guests can relax, rejuvenate and unwind while your rockstar team revives their complexions and massages away their pre-holiday stress.

Face and body treatments rank high for party prep. Judith Hellman, MD, a New York City-based dermatologist, sees her requests for body contouring treatments on the rise this time of year. “Our Sculpsure system has been going five days a week and started long before Thanksgiving. Patients are also interested in getting their acne under control to avoid breakout woes later on. Microneedling and clarifying peels are popular, as well. One of our signature specials right now is that clients receive a free glycolic peel when they book their first Forma Skin Tightening Treatment. We also promote our micro-branded skincare range and gift certificates for stocking stuffers,” explains Dr. Hellman.

Retail Revelations

This is the time to go a little crazy with your décor—which can pay off with big dividends. Leave nothing up to the imagination, so guests can picture your beauty retail under their trees and in their stockings. Wrap and label gift items; brighten up your displays; stock themed gift cards, bags, boxes and tissue paper; and transform your spa into a holiday mecca with festive decorations. “We feature a selection of giftable beauty items including scented Lafco candles, pretty cashmere wraps, and our selection of face masks and serums does very well this time of year,” says Marting.

Create some tasty treats or place an order from your favorite shops and bakeries. Try a signature spiced apple cider, mulled wine or decadent prosecco with raspberries to get guests into the spirit of the season. These little touches will also encourage clients to spend more time in your facility.

One big advantage that can help you capitalize on the holiday boom is accepting the CareCredit credit card. CareCredit is a beauty, health, wellness and personal care credit card that allows your clients to get the spa and medspa services they want, when they want them. With promotional financing options including no interest if paid in full within the promotional period, such as 6, 12, 18 and 24-month options** your guests can treat themselves to your promotions with less stress during their holiday spending, potentially increasing the possibility that they’ll purchase more than they would have normally. In a recent survey, 42 percent of cardholders said they would have postponed or not done complete spa or medspa provider recommendations if CareCredit was not available**. Visit carecredit.com/providercenter/dayspa/ to learn more and enroll.

Find your own holiday comfort zone. Eliminate stressors for the spa staff too so they can be at their best when clients come in for some R&R. By watching the profits roll in as the holidays arrive, you too will be able to relax and enjoy the season.

* No interest will be charged on the promotional purchase if you pay the promotional purchase amount in full within the 6, 12, 18, or 24 month promotional period. If you do not, interest will be charged on the promotional purchase from the purchase date. If your purchase qualifies for a 24-month promotional offer, fixed monthly payments are required equal to 4.1667% of initial promotional purchase amount until promotion is paid in full. The fixed monthly payment will be rounded up to the next highest whole dollar and may be higher than the minimum payment that would be required if the purchase was a non-promotional purchase. For all other promotional offers, the regular minimum monthly payment terms of the account will apply. Regular account terms apply to non-promotional purchases and, after promotion ends, to promotional balance, except the fixed monthly payment will apply until the promotion is paid in full. For new accounts, Purchase APR (interest rate) is 26.99%. Minimum Interest Charge is $2. Existing cardholders should see their credit card agreements for their applicable terms. Subject to credit approval.
