What makes your company unique?

Our scientific approach and constant push to improve our formulations. We develop, manufacture and distribute our products from start to finish, giving our customers access to support. We’re a group of scientists focused on bio-active ingredients and delivery systems, so our products give advanced, continued results.

Who or what inspires you?

Firstly, science. I’ve been in skin science for the last 30 years and it still amazes me. This desire to learn and push boundaries is key to our creativity. And second, love—of family, friends, nature, the world. Wanting to contribute, improve and inspire others gives me strength.

What is the brand’s hero product and why?

One that has stood the test of time is DermAware VITal C Cream. This unique formulation is healing and corrective, and can be used by all skin types including those suffering from acne or rosacea. It’s available in both retail and professional backbar strength, so pros are able to use it in treatments and recommend it to clients for use at home.

What advice would you give your younger, just- starting-out self?

When it comes to my professional career, I was fearless and hardworking from the very beginning. I would spend more time on myself—in other words, more balance.

What’s in the pipeline for the company?

We’re working on two new lines. One is based on nature’s communication with cells for age control. The other one I can’t share just yet. Stay tuned!

Tell us something people don’t know about you.

I speak several languages: English, French, German and Turkish.

What common skincare mistakes does the average person make?

There are three prominent ones that I see: using an incorrect dose of retinoid—too high strength or too low—and being inconsistent with it as well; not using a daytime antioxidant serum to help prevent and correct pigmentation or breakouts; and skipping the SPF—still! The key is to find a sunscreen that feels and looks good.

What’s a change you’d like to see in the spa industry?

Although there is more information available, there’s less hands-on training. I feel this is imperative for professionals who work with their hands. Watching videos is one thing, but being face to face with an educator who can correct mistakes, make suggestions and teach in person is invaluable.

What’s your favorite family activity?

We love to travel, and we try to take one vacation every summer where we spend two or three weeks exploring together. I’ve had the chance to travel a lot, but the world is a big place and I want to see it all! We also love music and enjoy classical concerts—opera in particular.
