One on One: Francois Requier General Manager, Silhouet-Tone
We believe in innovation and long-lasting, efficient technology. I envision a world with less disposable stuff and more durable, repairable equipment. It may sound like an old concept, however we see it as a necessity and a ‘green’ sentiment.
Who or what inspires you?
History and traveling the world. There’s so much we can learn from the past and from different cultures. By studying both, we can become wiser and more creative.
How do you motivate others?
I strongly believe the power of a team is greater than the power of the individual. If each person strives to be a role model and plays by example, then we can reach new heights. We recently had an amazing working session with the R&D, production and sales departments to develop a new product’s marketing strategy. Everyone was able to contribute and at the end, we all felt the product had become our ‘common baby!’
What advice would you give to your younger, just-starting- out self?
Calculate less and give your dreams more room. Dreams, not calculations, are what allow you to do exceptional things!
How do you unwind?
I have recently started taking piano lessons; it’s a great way to disconnect.
What’s your favorite activity?
I’m a family guy, so getting together with my five siblings, their spouses and all of our kids at our family’s country house is my definition of good time.
What’s the most fun part of your job?
Honestly, I derive a lot of my social life through work. My career has allowed me to meet so many exceptional colleagues, clients and vendors, and I’m grateful for that. What’s in the pipeline for the company?
We recently rebranded our furniture offerings under the name Newstream. This gives us the opportunity to express our values: design, sustainability and ergonomics. We’re currently launching the Nevada Premium and Elantra, which perfectly illustrate what Newstream represents: elegant design and advanced technology, with fast and silent motors that can be adapted to a variety of face and body treatments. In addition, we’ve introduced the O2 Chair, a breathing trainer we first presented at IECSC New York in March to great success.
What’s your favorite part of the day?
Breakfast on my own when I’m still half asleep.
If you weren’t in this industry what would you be doing?
I would be in the food business. It’s fascinating: We all need it but at the same time, food comes in so many different forms and consumer habits are changing so fast!
Scarface or The Notebook.
A Favorite food?
Crusty baguette, smelly cheese and red wine.
A Favorite city?
A Pet peeve?
A Scariest thing you’ve ever done?
Being in the passenger seat while teaching my daughter how to drive!
