Sticky Situation: The Overly-Undressed Client

In this new weekly column, we present real-life day spa disaster scenarios, and reveal how pros dealt with each crisis.

No Draping Client
The Situation: “Some clients will complain that they don’t like being draped with a sheet during a massage session, as they find it too hot or confining—or simply have no modesty,” says Felicia Brown, Licensed Massage & Bodywork Therapist Business & Marketing Coach at Spalutions!

The Solution: “I do whatever possible to make a client comfortable on the table by turning on a fan, using a cool pack or wet compress to cool them, or using a lighter-weight sheet,” Brown says. “However, I also explain that draping is my personal policy, a company policy, and a requirement of our state’s massage licensing board, and that all of my clients—even my husband—gets draped during treatment.”
