The Situation: “We had a long-time employee who had been with us for 10 years steal from us,” recalls Bruce Schoenberg, president of Oasis Day Spas in New York City and Westchester, N.Y. “She obviously had an issue, as she was stealing silly things such as rolls of toilet paper and sponge pads for facials.”
The Solution: “We called her in the first time, and gave her a chance to explain herself,” says Schoenberg. “She didn’t have anything to say, so we told her we would give her a second chance because of her history with the company. However, shortly after that conversation she was caught stealing again and we were forced to fire her on the spot and escort her out of the building.”
