The first eyelash extension competition in North America, Lash Wars, will be held at IBS Las Vegas from June 21-23. Contestants will compete in Classic, Volume and Fantasy/Strip Tease categories. In addition to bragging rights as the best North American lash technician, the first place winner will also receive $200 cash, a Glamcor Elite Light Kit and a Lash Wars Golden Tweezer Trophy. The company reports that the brand was chosen from hundreds of skincare lines. “We are so excited to be a part of this amazing spa opening,” says Laurie Nicoll, Stemulation founder and CEO. “Stemulation delivers the clinical results the Park Hyatt’s discerning clients will demand. With our proprietary combination of peptides and growth factors that nurture and balance the health of the skin tissue, the results are immediate and dramatic.”
“Nalai Spa is very excited about the opportunity of working with such an exciting and integrative product line,” adds spa development consultant Krista Carucci. “The partnership with Stemulation is a perfect and natural fit for the skin care options we will be offering all of the future Park Hyatt guests. The fact that we are able to utilize a line that has such flexibility, results, skin health (and did I mention results!) is refreshing.”
The new Park Hyatt is located in the heart of Midtown, across from Carnegie Hall and a short stroll from Central Park. The hotel, designed by world-renowned, Pritzker Prize-winning architect Christian de Portzamparc, features 210 guest rooms. Nalai Spa is situated on the hotel's 25th floor, with views of Central Park and the New York skyline. Nalai is based on an "Atelier Spa" concept, which aims to "customize the treatment experience through advanced communication and tailored product creation." Six all-inclusive treatment suites can accommodate every service opportunity on the menu.
“Nalai's size lends itself perfectly to this type of Atelier experience, as it is not so big that the treatment experience runs the risk of becoming diluted,” says Carucci. “Nalai will dedicate its mission to ensuring that every guest has a comprehensive history and building of experience every time they come back to our location. Our Treatment Artisans and Spa Curators will work holistically to ensure that every detail of the guest experience is harmoniously blended to ensure a precision fit for each guest, each time they arrive.”
The International SPA Association (ISPA) announced Erik Wahl, Mike Walsh, and Jewel will headline the 24th annual ISPA Conference & Expo to be held at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nev. from October 13-15, 2014.
“With the CREATE theme, our keynote speakers will be looking at ways to explore creativity in the spa industry in order to improve the overall guest experience and maximize profitability,” said ISPA President Lynne McNees.
The ISPA Conference & Expo will kick off with Erik Wahl speaking Monday, October 13. An internationally recognized graffiti artist, author and entrepreneur, Wahl will focus on profitability through innovations all the while bringing it to life on canvas.
Mike Walsh, a futurist who focuses on creating a blueprint for your business in the 21st Century, will present on Tuesday, October 14. As a global nomad and consumer trend scout, Mike does live research, in the trenches, with big corporations and entrepreneurs all over the world and prepares business leaders for what's next.
Jewel is a renowned singer, songwriter, artist and philanthropist. To date she has sold 27 million albums, most notably Perfectly Clear in June 2008. Inspired by her own personal experience with homelessness as a teenager, Jewel founded her charitable initiative, Project CleanWater, in 1997 which raises funds and awareness for global access to clean water. Jewel will close out the Conference on Wednesday, October 15, by sharing her story through song and speech.

The Professional Beauty Association (PBA) recently announced famed businessman, TV personality and Dallas Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban, as the keynote speaker for the 2014 PBA Business Forum held during PBA Beauty Week. Hosted by Cosmoprof North America (CPNA), PBA Beauty Week is North America's largest, most inclusive beauty event, offering unlimited networking, education and business-to-business opportunities to all sectors of the professional beauty industry. PBA Beauty Week will be held at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, July 13 - 15, 2014.
After graduating from Indiana University, Cuban moved to Dallas, TX and created MicroSolutions, a computer consulting service. He went on to later sell MicroSolutions in 1990 to CompuServe. In 1995, he and long-time friend Todd Wagner came up with an Internet-based solution to listen to Hoosiers Basketball games in Texas. That solution was Broadcast.com - streaming audio over the Internet. In just four short years, Broadcast.com (then Audionet) would be sold to Yahoo for $5.6 billion dollars. Since his acquisition of the Dallas Mavericks in 2000, he has overseen the Mavs competing in the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history in 2006 - and becoming NBA World Champions in 2011. They are currently listed as one of Forbes' most valuable franchises in sports. In addition to the Mavs, Cuban is chairman and CEO of AXS TV, one of ABC's "Sharks" on the hit show Shark Tank, and an investor in an ever-growing portfolio of businesses. He lives in Dallas with wife Tiffany, daughters Alexis and Alyssa, and son Jake.
