Star Treatment Take Your Vitamins Many facials claim to be antiaging and pro-hydrating, but few actually deliver these results. The Iderm Dermaculture signature facial treatment (60 min./$125) at Face to Face in Studio City, California, is an exception to the rule. Its deep-skin ionization process (see photo) delivers vitamins and minerals into the dermis with galvanic current to refresh, replenish and restore. The result is a glowing, dew-like appearance. “After a thorough extraction of the skin, we have a holistic approach that we believe works from the inside out,” says Robert van den Hurk, co-owner. “Our exclusive method opens pores, evens pigment, and tightens and firms skin,” adds Marianne Kehoe, co-owner and esthetician. The protocol: 1. Gently cleanse the skin. 2. Evaluate the skin to decide which exfoliation process is going to work best for the client. If it’s determined that a stronger honey almond mask should be used, apply it at this time. If a more hydrating gentle exfoliation is selected, it will be administered at the end of the treatment—right before the galvanic current. 3. Place warm cotton strips soaked in a yucca root solution over the skin to prepare for the extraction process. Then, position a warm heat dome over the face for 10 minutes. The apparatus allows the pores to expand and loosens any dirt deposits in the skin. 4. Perform the extraction process. Use a rolling method—a technique that allows each pore to be cleaned out. 5. Cover the skin with warm surgical cotton strips that have been soaked in a vitamin mineral solution. Then, place a leather pad that has electrodes on it over the top of the surgical cotton to act as a positive conductor. Place a negative conductor with electrodes under the arm to provide a galvanic current. Turn on the machine to allow the vitamin mineral solution to be pushed into the base of the skin. 6. Place a serum and moisturizer over the skin. The client should not participate in heavy exercise over the next 24 hours, so the vitamins and minerals that were just pumped into her skin don’t get pushed out. Also, tell women to wait 20 minutes before applying any makeup to allow natural oils to come to the surface of the skin.
